Vivid Sydney x Luna Park
Before the official launch of Vivid for this year, I was one of the few lucky enough to receive a sneak peek of the installations at the iconic Luna Park. It was the first time Vivid’s famous lights appeared at the popular amusement park.
The ‘Spirit of Fun’ was an awe-inspiring and colourful display showcased on the facade of Coney Island. It celebrates the captivating history of the park and brings to life familiar characters, while highlighting it’s future of fun. It might be just me, but it’s a little reminiscent of the lights in Las Vegas. Tell me what you think!
Phantasos was a vibrant spectacle on the Luna Park Ferris Wheel and has over 3000 individual LED lights! It’s the only installation that you can ride! So you’ll be able to have a bird’s eye view of Sydney all lit up. It’s definitely worth the ride, even if you’re frightened of heights. Take this as a first step towards conquering that fear.
While you’re roving around enjoying the beautiful sight the illumination of Sydney, I’m sure there will come to a point, where your stomach will rumble. Avoid the hangriness, and book yourself into The Deck Sydney.
The menu has a wide selection and numerous flavour combinations. This makes a foodie like me lick their lips, but also struggle to make decisions. In a dream, I would have liked to have tried about 10 dishes from this menu. I think it took me about 20 minutes to decide on my main. I absolutely adore seafood and all meat to be honest, so once you see the menu, you’ll be able to empathise with my indecisiveness. I tried the Twice Cooked Lamb Neck and Slow Cooked Duck Leg, and the flavours from both were amazing. In order to enjoy the full flavours of this experience, make sure you include all the components of the dish onto one fork or spoon, especially with the Duck Leg. I know it’s a beginner’s tip, but I want you guys to have a satisfying food coma. For those with a sweet tooth, you MUST try, like I mean MUST (it’s a non-negotiable) The Deck Snickers. I might be bias because I love chocolate mousse, but this dessert is worth every calorie. Just to highlight my love for chocolate mousse, a few months ago, my sister made a few couple of cups of chocolate mousse for me. Okay I’m lying, she made about 12. And I ate three quarters of that, which pretty much satisfied my mousse quota for at least the next six months.
Also, if you dine at The Deck Sydney for Vivid, you’ll receive free parking! And this is a good win, because I’m sure most of you would prefer sitting in a heated car on a winters night than on public transport. Vivid Sydney is on until Saturday June 16th, so make sure you get down soon!
PS: I don't have any decent flicks of the Twice Cooked Lamb Neck. I know it's a rookie error, but I guess you have to take my word for it!
